I took a break from the office to head down to the local library because I’m a nerd like that. Anyway, on my way out I saw this sweet two-volume box set all about Ferrari! The spine of the box said it was the 1984-1985 edition.
Hi-ho, Silver and away!
Inside, I found the coffee table book-sized volumes protected by plastic book cover sleeves which did little to detract from the signature Ferrari logo.
Volume 1 contained numerous full-color double-trucks of vintage Ferrari goodness, along with several single page photo spreads in color and black and white.
All the photos in Volume 2 were black & white, but that didn’t matter, as they were all phenomenal examples of both automotive photography as a genre and of the Ferrari brand.
Cooler still was that the entire history of Ferrari up until publication was laid out in three languages throughout the set — Italian, English and French. You can see the three-column trilingual format on the left-hand side of Volume 2 shown below. Even the photo cutlines for each and every photo was laid out in all three languages.
The two books were extensive in their history, covering the early days of Ferrari concepts, to consumer models, to F1 — complete with engine diagrams such as the Formula 1 sketch shown below. (Apologies, I forgot to make note of which year that was).
I could have spent a lot more time drooling over the photos in the set, but, alas! I had to return to my office. As I tucked the box set back in its spot on the shelf, I noticed there was quite a collection of old auto repair manuals, too.
Clearly whoever was in charge of acquisitions in the 1980s was a gearhead. :D
Huge photos courtesy my iPhone.

I love multi lingual books, lots of architecture books are German/English or Japanese/English.

Wow, those are really cool. Did they have an ISBN? I’d love to pick them up for the coffee table.
